This Online NAMI Basics Support Group  is for parents and caregivers of young people, under 23 years of age, who are experiencing a mental illness or symptoms.  The meetings are led by a trained NAMI Basics team with lived experience raising a child with a mental health condition. They know what you’re going through because they’ve been there too.  Family members join a caring group of individuals helping one another by utilizing their collective life experiences and learned wisdom. Family members can achieve a renewed sense of understanding and hope for their loved one living with mental illness.

Sessions are held the 1st Tuesday of the month from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  using Zoom.   Each meeting  is limited to 12 people, first come, first served.  It is suggested to 10 minutes prior to the start of the session to test equipment.

NAMI also offers a free, 6-week BASICS Class for parents and caregivers of young people, under 23 years of age, who are experiencing a mental illness or symptoms.  Click here for more information.

Our son going on 13 was adopted through foster care as an infant but has had increasing challenges to the point we all feel isolated and are not getting the support he needs. I study and search everyday to help find support but have not found enough answers.
Turns out he has reactive attachment disorder RAD/developmental trauma along with all the things that often come with it such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, sensory, social emotional… loneliness, boredom and stress have made his life feel unbearable and we feel lost as a family. He is increasingly destructive and aggressive, sad, mad, and scared.
